A COUPLE OF EASTER THOUGHTS
What a shock! On the bus in Jerusalem was the name of its destination: ‘GOLGOTHA’. I knew all about the gospel accounts of the crucifixion and tried to forget such a place still existed. I could just hear the driver shouting, "Golgotha – all change."
The time of the crucifixion really was a time of all change. Jesus, by his great sacrifice, opened up a new way of life, a new beginning. Problems come to each of us but however small or large, we can bring them to the cross. If we are willing to draw near to Jesus and let him take control, then we can make the ‘all change’ and discover the joy, strength and peace He so freely gives.
There is a legend about a bird which sings just once in its life, more sweetly than any other.
From the moment it leaves the nest it searches for a thorn tree and doesn’t rest until it has found one. Then, singing among the savage branches, it impales itself on the longest, sharpest spine. Dying, it rises above its own agony to out-carol the lark and the nightingale.
One superlative song, but the whole world stills to listen and God in his Heaven smiles, for the best is only bought at the cost of great pain – or so says the legend.

COMMUNITY CHOIR
We did a
singalong at Sherwood Court just before Christmas, which was well received and
well supported by choir members. We continue to meet every Wednesday evening at
7.00pm in the Cedar Room, taking a break during school holidays. As always, all
are welcome. Being able to sing is secondary to enjoying yourself. It doesn’t
matter if you come once a month or very occasionally, you will be made welcome.
