A FARRAGO
Did you spot the photo of our Christmas tree in the Methodist Recorder, 4th January, and the abundance of presents you donated for distribution by Methodist Action North West?
Since the change of ownership of Abbot Hall at Kents Bank (Grange-over- Sands), it has become Lambert Manor.
Some
of you will recall the pulpit exchange back in the 1990s between our Rev.
Stephen Poxon + Myrtle and Pastor Keith Schmuck + Diane of Manchester,
Pennsylvania. Mel, the wife of Keith & Diane’s son Jeff, has died very
suddenly and we are being asked to hold them all in our prayers. The shock
has hit the whole family very badly, and not least her identical twin sister
Mary.
St Dunstan is the patron saint of goldsmiths and silversmiths (as well as blacksmiths and bellringers). His feast day is 19th May and that is why the date year on hallmarks run from 19th May one year to 18th May the next, and not the calendar year.
Other folks’ magazines and weekly news sheets have arrived from Arnside, Methodist Church; Birkdale, St James & St Peter; Fulwood Christ Church; Fulwood URC; Grassington Congregational Church; Isles of Scilly Methodist Circuit; Lytham Methodist Church; Parish Church of St Annes-on-Sea; Penwortham St Leonard’s, Preston Central Methodist Church; St Annes, Church Road Methodist Church; Solihull Methodist Church; Warton St Paul’s; Wigan Methodist Circuit + The Penwortham Magazine and we thank all who’ve taken the trouble to bring these in.
On a regular basis we also receive a copy of the magazine from our twinned Evangelisch-methodistische Kirke in Recklinghausen, Germany.
