A LETTER FROM DOUGLAS RAE

We were recently sent a copy of the Christmas 2009 edition of ‘The Fulwood Methodist’, and have read the article relating to my Scouting history and my Award.

Not quite sure who exactly composed the piece, but it reads well and thank you personally for whatever contribution you made to the contents.

Last time I communicated with you I said I would try and look out an old photograph or two. You may find the attached of interest. I am the "tenderfoot" on the left! The backdrop is clearly Fulwood Methodist Church. It looks like an autumn scene (lack of leaves) so I as joined the Wolf Cubs at age 8, I would guess the photograph dates as circa late 1949.I seem to recognise the other 3 Wolf Cubs, but could not name them. However I do know someone who quite probably will be able to put a name to them, and will pursue that point and let you know what I come up with. Alternatively it might be an interesting ‘quiz’ for someone to mount locally!

I also send a current photograph of myself with my award, given my news has already been published.

It is likely I will be in the Preston area just after Easter this year for a short holiday and if you are perhaps free it would be interesting to meet up and exchange news. I have also seen the video clips of the alterations to the Church building and would love to have a tour to see what exactly is being done. Looks quite impressive (if not expensive).

Douglas Rae
